Jaylene Johnson's fourth studio release, recorded at Signpost Music and produced by Murray Pulver. Warm, acoustic, authentic, soul-nourishing folk/pop music. Digipak with gorgeous artwork by award-winning graphic artist, Roberta Renee Hansen. 12 original tracks.

By the time the first chorus of the opening song played I said to myself ‘Oh my - this is seriously good!’...The album has just the right amount of push and pull with tempo shifts, mood changes, with solid musicianship warming the centre and serving these 12 stellar songs. ‘Let The Silence Speak’ moved me to tears... Brian Doerksen

...there's a lovely settledness about this project that you recognize in an artist who has come into her own. The songs are beautifully crafted and performed— the sort that draw you into that liminal space where newness and insight are sometimes found. Steve Bell

What happens when a pro songwriter converges at the point of faith, suffering and truth-telling? Potter & Clay is what happens. Jaylene has heartbreakingly and beautifully outdone herself at the meeting place of craftsmanship and the human journey. Alana Levandoski

Fallin 04:06
Fallin’ ©2015 Jaylene Johnson There are things I've done that I never should've done Things I've said, I never should've said I can't forget, it's messing with my head The things I've done, the things I've said I'd be telling lies if I said that I’d be good That every time I do everything I should If I tried, tried, did the very best I could Wouldn't be enough, I could not be good I’m Fallin, fallin Fallin, fallin Fallin, fallin Into the arms of mercy So I pray for grace that I know I don't deserve All I have couldn't pay You what it's worth (But) You said it's mine so I'll take you at Your Word 'Cause I need this grace I don't deserve I’m Fallin, fallin Fallin, fallin Fallin, fallin Into the arms of mercy There are things I've done that I never should've done Things I've said that I never should've said I can't forget and it's messing with my head All the things I've done, the things I've said I’m Fallin, fallin Fallin, fallin

How Long 03:40
How Long ©2015 Jaylene Johnson Who led me to this desert? Was it me or was it You? Am I being punished For what I did or didn't do Been walking round in circles Consumed by every mile The landscape of a broken heart Too hurt to reconcile How long, how long Will I stay here in the shadows When will the pain be gone How long, how long When can I fin'lly say I'm moving on I believe that You are faithful All-knowing and all-wise I've seen Your mercy moving Through the corners of my life So I'm asking you to rescue me Or am I just a page in history Cause I've been here much longer Than I ever thought You'd let me be How long, how long Will I stay here in the shadows When will the pain be gone How long, how long When can I fin'lly say I'm moving on Help me find a way out I wanna know what freedom's all about What freedom’s all about How long, how long Will I stay here in the shadows When will the pain be gone How long, how long When can I fin'lly say I'm moving on When can I fin’lly say I’m movin’ on How long, How long How long, How long How long, How long How long, How long How long, How long How long, How long How long, How long How long, How long

One Tiny Prayer ©2015 Jaylene Johnson Trees so tall go beyond my sight Feel so small ‘neath this patch of sky I’m out of place and I’m wond’ring why I came Silence falls with the coming night Birds once singing have taken flight There’s just the sound of me whispering Your name Do You still see me, know me Are You listening I want to know You’re there I’m still looking, longing Watching, wond’ring Will you meet me here This fragile heart Waits in the dark For You For You All creation is in Your view A million voices cry out to You Still somehow You see every sparrow fall Answers you hold inside your hand Answers I’ll never understand Like how does one tiny prayer get through it all Do You still see me, know me Are You listening I want to know You’re there I’m still looking, longing Watching, wond’ring Will you meet me here This fragile heart Waits in the dark For You For You For You For You

Find Us 03:04
Find Us Romans 8:35, 38-39 Find us in the shadows Find us in the dark Find us in the corners Where we don't think You’d ever go Find us in our failures Where we've been thrown back to the start Find us as we question All the things we used to know We are lost (so lost) We hide (we hide) All the fear we have inside Find us Find us Oh Great Love Find us In our anger Find us in our pain Find us in our envy Our rebellion and our pride Find us in the graveyard Meet us where we are Lead us to the holy place You spread Your arms out wide

Let the Silence Speak ©2015 Jaylene Johnson Another empty room Painted in baby blue Another broken dream (Of) toys and tiny shoes Curled in a rocking chair No consolation there No way to voice the pain With sadness everywhere When all that you can do is weep Let the silence speak God still knows everything we need When we don’t know what to say We can know that Jesus hears us anyway Let the silence speak Ooooh Sometimes there are no words No lessons to be learned And people try their best They only make it worse No comfort to be found Tears fall without a sound But angels mark each one For this is Holy Ground Sometimes the hurt is just too deep Let the silence speak God still knows everything we need When we don’t know what to say We can know that Jesus hears us anyway Let the silence speak Through the anger Through the sorrow through despair (From) right where we are God will meet us there We’re not forgotten We’re not alone In the silence Jesus hears us So let Him hold you close Let the silence speak

This Little Light ©2015 Jaylene Johnson I got scared of taking chances So I stayed in bed Tangled up, my inhibitions Messin’ with my head I was tired and feeling foolish ‘Bout some things I’d done So I stayed away far out of sight of everyone And this little light of mine I wouldn’t let it shine Burning flame that used to fuel me Faded to a spark Now I sit in contemplation Lonely in the dark I remember times I was convinced That You were there So I’m cryin’ out, Lord Jesus Please receive this prayer ‘Cause this little light of mine I still wanna let it shine Wanna let it shine, shine, shine I wanna let it shine Oh Oh Oh So please forgive me for the things I should have said and done All the time I’ve wasted Out of sight of everyone Fan the spark into a fire Never let it die And I will tell the story of Your mercy Far and wide This little light of mine I am gonna let it shine

Let My Heart Break ©2015 Jaylene Johnson Oh let my heart break With the things that break Your heart Let my mouth speak for the needs of all the poor The ones whose voices go unheard For all the lonely and forgotten of this world Let my heart break Oh let my heart break I was an orphan But You offered me a home When I had nothing You gave me food and kept me warm I was a wasteland left to die Until you flowed in like a river to my life I was an orphan I was a wasteland So let my heart break With the things that break Your heart Let my mouth speak for the needs of all the poor If I forget your love for me Or turn away from what You’re wanting me to see Let my heart break Oh let my heart break Oh let my heart break Let my heart break

about

"Not too long ago my husband and I had a chance to listen to Potter & Clay on repeat as we road-tripped our way through the twisting mountain pass between Vernon and Vancouver. I don't know if we could have had a more perfect soundtrack. Jaylene's poetic, honest, winsome documentation of her own winding journey seemed to intersect perfectly with our own. There's just so much truth-telling packed into the lyrics, melodies, vocals and arrangements here, I can't imagine these 12 songs won't be good companions on your journey, too.

You must get this album. Road trip optional, but highly recommended." Carolyn Arends

"By the time the first chorus of the opening song played I said to myself ‘Oh my - this is seriously good!’...The album has just the right amount of push and pull with tempo shifts, mood changes, with solid musicianship warming the centre and serving these 12 stellar songs. ‘Let The Silence Speak’ moved me to tears..." Brian Doerksen

"I want to commend Jaylene Johnson’s new project, Potter & Clay, to you. Jaylene is a veteran musician and songwriter with several album projects to her credit already, but I think this particular project will be a defining moment in her career. Sonically it’s gorgeous, the performance and production elegant, and the songwriting exquisite. It is a moving piece of work that deserves a wide hearing." Steve Bell

"Every single note and every single word in this cd is magnificent! Love the songs, love the singing, love the production- and love the John Bailey mixes. Kudos to Jaylene and her creative team- this is a stunning album- some of her best work!" Amy Sky

"What happens when a pro songwriter converges at the point of faith, suffering and truth-telling? Potter & Clay is what happens. Jaylene has heartbreakingly and beautifully outdone herself at the meeting place of craftsmanship and the human journey." Alana Levandoski
